Kate Czarnecki currently serves as the Treasurer for ROC the Standardbred. Kate has enjoyed, cared for, and worked with horses her entire life. Her first love was a plain bay OTTB that taught her a gentle hand and a ride through the park was the epitome of love and understanding.
At age 9, Kate began private instruction at Cherry Hill Stables in Spencerport, New York where she focused mainly on eventing. She also had the opportunity to cub, fox hunt, and catch ride at shows in the Rochester area. One of Kate’s favorite things to do was work and groom for her instructor, Sue Stevens. This gave Kate the chance to see how much work went into the proper care of horses.
Like many, Kate took a hiatus from daily horse care and riding while she attended college, but she did volunteer at a therapeutic riding facility during her late teens and twenties. Kate spent her years following college riding at several different facilities in many different disciplines. She finally found her home when she was introduced to Sarah Koch of Triple R Equestrian (formerly Alivio North) as a place for her daughter to take riding lessons.
Kate’s current horse, Dancin’ Thea, an OTTSB, was purchased directly off the track and cared for by Alyssa Hedges, President, ROC the Standardbred, and Sarah Koch, Vice President, ROC the Standardbred. They rehabbed Thea beautifully and gave her the time she needed to heal and just be a horse. Kate assumed responsibility for Thea in September of 2018.
Kate looks forward to the many events, fundraisers, and activities ROC the Standardbred has planned for 2019. In addition to her position on the Executive Committee of ROC the Standardbred, Kate and Thea are Team Hunter Green in the ROC the Standardbred Breed Ambassador Program.
